Having just finished my second shoot with a RED [#444 -- quick, whose is it?], I'm beginning to figure it out. Unlike many on this forum who appear to either own one or have regular access to one, my expertise grows at a rather sluggish shoot-by-shoot pace!

Onto the news at hand... I'll be hosting a discussion with Mike Seymour (of fxguide.com and fxphd.com fame) about working with the RED. I'm planning on skewing the discussion towards post-production workflow, as there seems to be enough excitement already about going out and shooting. :-)

More info:

Please post any issues/themes you think could be covered. Keep in mind that the audience at Choc Tops is of a general nature (not only post-production boffins), so I'll be trying to have a good overall discussion that still deals with enough technical detail to make it worthwhile. I see it as an opportunity for producers, directors, etc. to get familiar with working with the RED.

Cheers,
Sid.

Great! Thanks Sid and Mike. Look forward to seeing you there. I'd be keen to hear Mike's latest thinking on shooting 4k for an HD output, with minimum cc/"editing (just cuts) (Mike explains this in detail in a recent fxphd class, but as that's now a few months old, I'd like to know if Mike suggests anything different now...). No doubt it'll be an invaluable evening.

Sid: I've taken the liberty of referring to this post over at ANZRUG (Australia and NZ Red User Group), in case any locals missed it here.

Mike gave an excellent talk tonight on Red/workflow and received a well deserved applause.
Thanks too to Sid & other for putting it on.

I learn't some good things tonight...one of which is I want my 18-85mm ASAP!
There were quite a few people in the room very eager to learn about all things Red and they got a lot of good info....Well done.
Dave

Agreed. Thanks Mike, Mat, Sid and Dave (for supplying 444). It was another really informative and, in Mike's usual style, comprehensible presentation. Very much appreciated.
