Just wondered if any reservation holders have had second thoughts about the camera and want to sell their reservation to me? Not sure if I can hang on until next year for my red camera. I will be ordering off the site soon anyway but let me know as would appreciate a chance to get in sooner.
thanks Johann

Reservations are not transferrable. I suppose the question you should be asking is "anybody want to sell their camera as soon as they get it?"

I am now unsure as to why I didn't order two cameras at NAB 2006.

Bingo. If only we had a flux-capaitor... :shiftyph34r:
To Johannperry: When the camera begins to ship, undoubtedly some reservation holders will put their cameras up on eBay. That's probably your best bet.

all available flux-capacitators have been used for red one camera production.

I'm going to sell one (a camera, not a reservation)... #728. Auction-style.

Why? Well, anyway, hope it works out for you (probably will). But if you're seriously going to unload #728 once you receive it, let's talk. PM me if you're serious.

On another list speculation abounded about people not being able to afford to keep payments up on a RED. Come-on it's less than buying a car now?
The vultures are circling. I wonder how many speculators bought in?

Hi,
Sure it's less than buying a car, but a car can be financed with $100 deposit!

You can finance your RED too... It's just like buying any piece of equipment or tools to use in your business. RED is actually rather cheap compared to other high-end camera systems (as has been pointed out). Also cheap compared to other common equipment ranging from construction equipment, vehicles, to digital printing press systems or even office furniture.
My two biggest issues I have regarding my REDservation is that I passed on the first registration window and then when the time came, I only reserved one. Oh well.
I'm sure there will be some who can't afford to keep their RED... In that case, we have to just accept that they're more hobbyists or RED doesn't fit into their workflow or production model well compared to other alternatives.
I'm also guessing there's quite a few speculators with lower reservation numbers. They will have to buy and sell pretty quick though and I honestly don't see huge profits to be made there. RED will scale production to meet the demand and once the initial 1500 or so are delivered, there will be plenty available everywhere. I would think it makes more sense to rent while waiting for one to be shipped than it does to buy at an inflated price from some unknown speculator sleaze on eBay.

Hi,
With Ebay + Paypay costs around 10%, it won't be that easy for speculators, unless the camera is in the first 100 or so.

You can list it as a classified ad or do as many do and say do not bid on this auction, contact here etc and then get the person to pay by cheque (Check in US :)).
It'll cost hardly anything to Ebay it, I'm sure you could even auction it via RedUser.net if you so wished.

 Didn't think anyone would be tempted, looks like I'll just have to get my order in and brace myself for a long wait.

I wonder how much people would actually pay to get an early reservation camera. I'd guess you'd receive it about 6 months before one reserved now.

I was shocked by Nintendo WII and PS3 sales when they were first launched. I wouldn't be too surprised if you see REDs going for ridiculous amounts during the first month. For those without reservations.. it'll be quite a wait..6 months may seem an eternity..and anyone with loads of money might pay some good cash for immediate red gratification.

I've been told crack is addictive, the high is intense and it's cheap compared to its more expensive derivative pre-cursor. I see some similarities.

After acually seeing the camera and the end-to-end workflow with FCP 6 and redcine at NAB, you couldn't pry my REDONE camera from my cold dead hands.
Just wished I had reserved more than one camera...GEEZ!

Join the club, I think there's enough of us to justify custom jackets.... The "should've reserved a couple" club. Oh well. At least I know a handful of others in my area getting REDs so I'll be able to borrow/rent here and there until I really need that second camera enough to buy it.

Ask Sony, Panasonic, ARRI, Panavision.....

I always end up calculating things a bit too much... so I originally ordered two Red Ones, but now that my toe is getting closer to the edge, I'm figuring I'll only need one of those cameras.
As for auctioning it, I was just going to put up a little web page where people could submit an email to me with a bid (very old fashioned, I know). As many have noted, the percentage of profit that Ebay takes is too high.

I'll be honest and say that every time the delivery date is pushed back a little voice in me screams to run the opposite direction. Hopefully by putting trust in the developers, I'll be rewarded with everything they said they would deliver.

I know where you're coming from on this. Just keep in mind that every delay so far has had a reasonable justification in the form of increased performance.
