Mixing Anamorphic and Spherical?

I'm guessing that this wouldn't work out too well, but has anyone tried mixing anamorphic footage with footage shot with spherical lenses masked to 2.35:1? Does it match at all? Or are there things you can do to get it to match better?

Within a sequence, or within a film? Within a sequence, I wouldn't. To provide a stylistic difference between sequences, go for it.

To match better, I would shoot the spherical at wider f-stops to mimic the reduced DOF on anamorphic.
