People keep saying the redcode footage doesn't look like film. The gamma curve looked a tiny bit flat on a couple of machines I checked it on, and had this odd "salmon" tint in the skintones, which might have contributed to a lot of cries of "VIDEO!!!!!" (this might have been something to do with the monitor gamma settings and adobe1998 calibration which the red folks use, as relatively few of the general public have their monitors set this way, particularly PC users) I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the look, but I guess people want to see that this thing can make stuff look like FILM.
So I took the liberty of mucking around with the footage to see if I could make it look more like film.

Yes that does look rather filmlike (or at least it is one kind of film look). It certainly has higher contrast, and I think rather more noise as well. Personally I prefer the look of the original.
I know this is just a technical example, but is it OK to post an unauthorized derivative of P.J.'s work? without the credits?
I dont think anyone will shot you for doing this.
But for the movie look it self. Hm I dont know, I think you can push it even further. I got to stat that I like the original one pretty much, even though it doesent have that holy movie look to it, and thats from someone to untill this date have hated any digital movies on the big screen. I think Red have cracked the kode. Because I have allready made my own 35mm look from the footage. But to my own please that is hehe

Give it to 10 people, and you'll end with 10 different looks.
The beauty of working with Redcode RAW.!!!
You can make it work the way YOU want.

It was only for my amusement, and I'm certainly not trying to take credit for other peoples work. If it's an issue, I'll pull it in a second. I just did this to test if I could easily get rid of the things people are saying make it look less like film. Wasn't even going to post it.
I could have gone much further, but I stopped at the point where people would say I'm trying to *hide* stuff...

I know what you mean. But if you look at 300 they "hide" alot of stuff and got a hell of a cheering. Than again, thats a totaly different movie trying to look cartoonish.
This year is going to be truly amazing looking from the motion art perspective.
