I can't remember if it has ever been asked, but might it be possible to get individual uncompressed stills from the Red One in a future build, or maybe a short burst of uncompressed stills? Preferably full sensor, maximum useable resolution. I had a friend of a high end stills photographer asking me about it yesterday and I'd never really thought about it.

You can get stills from footage shot in Redcode 28/36. There are no uncompressed output options. Although it's technically possible for the RED to output uncompressed data, the uncompressed output module was cancelled. I believe this was due to there being little interest in an uncompressed output module.

Short burst of uncompressed or even single stills would be a great feature on RED to have.

It might be a fun novelty, but I don't see how it would be very useful. What you record should be good enough to produce a final film, so what would be the point? The footage isn't going to be uncompressed, so why use extra space for some stills? Would enough people really be interested in that?
I believe that the uncompressed output module didn't get much interest because it would take approximately 19 GB of space per minute and a write speed of 324MB/sec. (4096 x 2304 12-bit @ 24FPS). That takes a massive amount of storage compared to Redcode on CF cards. Furthermore, it's much more demanding on the hardware and requires a significantly more complex setup.
