Hello,

I can't find anything about IRE red spotmeter.
If a thread already exists, please, excuse me.

I would like to know how does this spotmeter IRE work?
What does IRE mean?
IRE= from 0 to 108 ?
Can we compare this to a % for ONE volt?

Thank you , Julien

Hi Julien,

Here is a Wiki definition of IRE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRE_(unit)

I haven't heard of the Red IRE spot meter, where in the menus are you seeing this? IRE is generally used for measurement on a wave form monitor, something I do with a gray scale when checking a camera's calibration.

Its an option in the METERS sub menu under VIEWFINDER.

Measure the IRE value at the center cursor position in the image.

Between 40 - 50 is a number range I hear people say they would use, its really up to you where you want to put it.
