Anyone use this field recorder/mixer?

It's 2 channel, 24BIT, can record to a CF and pipe out to a camera I assume.

Unfortunately this thing is a bit crippled down and needs an optional module to record TC - and it`s expensive...

Buy something that last... 4 channel on Internal Hard drive or 2 channels on CF, very light, with the best mic preamp in the industry:

It's more expensive indeed. But why buy a device the price of a 32 gig CF card (the Fostex) when the picture has a 4k quality and price? :-)

Yea, after researching for a few hours, I realized the Fostex is a piece of crap. I only thought about it because Indierentals offers it in their audio lineup.

That sonosax looks nice. Do you use it?

How about the Sound Devices 744T?

Sound Devices is excellent from every perspective. The preamps and A/D converters are really good. Also very practical in the field.

Low cost timecode recorder, records on the same flash cards as the Red. Not as heavily built as the above (plastic case), but a good alternative for around $1000.

Hope you'r kidding....:nerd:

from 699.-- to about 35'000.-- there is no recession spoken here!!!

I do not use this sonosax but used the Sonosax BD1 boom mic preamp wich is really great and the Minir wich is a beast for docu very light and high quality work.

Jacques Sax, the founder of Sonosax is a friend and a great guy. Every single piece he mades is done with the highest quality standards and Kubrick was one of his clients. Also see his credits here...

Sonosax is in the Cantar league but has also tools for different needs. (Cantar is also 4kg...) Cantar and Sonosax mixer are often married on feature :-)
