If i have to choose... RED-EVF or LCD ?

Vincent, my suggestion to you is "try before you buy." I personally didn't take too well to the EVF after I got it and ended up going for the LCD in the end. Having been spoiled by optical viewfinders in the past, I've never seen an EVF that I liked. If you are used to EVFs, you'll probably love the RED's. That being said, you may also want to consider the LCD used in combination with either the OptiTek or Action Products viewer as a third option.

Whatever works for you best ought to be your solution.

I agree. Some people think the RED EVF is the greatest thing in the world while I personally prefer the LCD - it's very much a matter of personal preferences. Some people are also more sensitive for the rainbow flashes yuo can see when your eye moves around in the EVF.

I think people who are used to shooting one way might tend to stick with that. So if you always shoot LCD style maybe get the pro LCD. Other people, especially ENG guys are used to viewfinders... and RED's is probably the best out there and it's easier to see focus on. Adds a lot of bulk to the camera though.

Having both is nice because I can shoot via EVF and have an AC or Director watching on the LCD without having to run a monitor cable all the time. I shoot that way a lot. Also - for playback the LCD is easier for multiple people to see.

Thanks guys. Personnally i can't see how i could frame properly my photography using only an LCD, don't feel natural or professional to me... That's why i was thinking to the EVF, but i do not have that much experience here...

Maybe i miss something?

I remember years ago a photographer told me something like... forget all the specs and the marketing hype - which camera feels best in your hands? Which one do you like to look through? Which one makes you want to take pictures?

That's exactely why i still like shooting with my hasselblad 503Cw... When i have it in my hand, portrait someone just feel so transparent and natural. You could see some of then on my profile or blog..

Will you be shooting by yourself, pulling your own focus?

If so, I think you have to go EVF. I have found you can make focus mistakes with the LCD. Although it is very good, it is not as sharp as the EVF and I tend to see the edge detail focus assist better on EVF.

But the tradeoff is a lot more weight added to the camera and this can be a BIG issue if you need to go very lightweight. I'm glad I have both as it allows me to use the appropriate one for a given situation.

The EVF is good, if it suits you way of working go with it.

If you do buy and EVF buy a second 5" arm for it and use two arms on it, its the cheapest way of making the thing stable. There are other mounting options but they can be expensive.

I love the EVF for the sharpness and that there is no glare. The LCD seems to have a blue tint and has less contrast on it also which throws me a little off. The LCD is great for the menus though since you can mount it on the back of the camera and see the joystick at the same time.

True.. if nailing the focus is an issue (poor light, telephoto lens, or both), EVF is the best I can think of.

I have the 7" LCD and the EVF. I really love the EVF when operating from a tripod or dolly but for fast moving setups and especially handheld I go for the 7" LCD every time.
The 7" is far and away the better choice than the 5.6 IMO.

I have tried handheld with the 5.6 LCD and it was very rough. I much prefer the EVF for handheld, but I come from a film camera background.
