RED limited functionality

I have read that several hundreds of first RED cameras will have sort of limited funcionality. What does it mean? It is just a matter of firmware which will be possible to upload into the camera in a near future? Or is it a hardware issue?

Yes, I've read that thread but there is no word about what I am asking for... I am just curious if limited functionality in those first cameras will be fixable via some firmware update or it is a final hardware limitation.

fixable with a firmware upgrade i belive.

All limited functionality should be upgradeable, probably just with firmware upgrades.

Of course, they may run into unforeseen hardware issues down the line which might require a hardware fix too. As usual, things are subject to change.
