You've got to wonder where industrial design influences come from. I think we all agree Jim has a wicked sense of ID, but where do some of our competitors get their inspiration from? From 1973 perhaps?

That is a sweet looking rig...for the 70's. The only thing missing is a big-ass Tom Selleck sized 'stache on the guy.
That was some pretty cutting egde sh*t back in the day!

One of the first video cameras I worked with (with NBC News) was the RCA TK76A. It was built with a flat bottom to which the tripod plate was attached...and then dug into your shoulder. The viewfinder was awful and the camera only made good images in bright sunshine. The thing weighed a ton and was bright blue. I was based in a war zone back then so I put a big Donald Duck sticker on it. I thought maybe a little levity would help me out. I hated that camera and at the same time I grew attached to it...so recently I found one on Ebay to put on my bookshelf...just as a reminder! It was originally about $60K. Though it was designed as a field camera, they missed the mark.

That camera in the original post looks sweet though. Almost Dieter Rams-esque. Better 1973 than 1993!
