BTW, the links on the Red site:

Home - Lenses - Cameras - ....

Cameras? Plural?

I think the link has always been Cameras

I can confirm. Since the current site launched, the tab has always been labeled "Cameras".

I think the implication they probably intend is that RED ONE is not going to be the only camera they will ever make. Indeed, the name itself implies the future existance of a RED TWO. Pointless speculating when though.

pushing the envelope once and then not ding it a second time doesn't seem to be something Jim would do I think ;-)

Let them finish the RED ONE. If it would become a total success maybe they will continue and make the RED TWO that has the idea of "design and build a high performance digital cine camera with the quality of 65mm film and convenience of pure digital."

RED ONE- manual.
RED TWO- auto?

That will be the day when I see a news cameraman armed with a RED on his shoulder hehe.

I sure hope the next generation has the user bit LCD information screen and the control buttons on the camera smart side (op side of camera) like most other cameras. I am quite disappointed with it on the back. I can live with it and the other specs of the camera make it worth the hastle of it being on the back. It is fortunately the only handicap I have seen so far on the camera.

And if RED is as modular and upgradable as they claim (and it looks it), then it should be around for long time. Which would suggest that future cameras from the RED team won't replace / obsolete the RED One, but rather compliment it. Such as other form factors... What about "conjoined twin" model for shooting 3D? :)

I like the buttons on the back. :)

There will be place for a smaller camera. And above all, market too. After all, after the success we all guess for the RED ONE.

EDIT -- When I'm referring smaller I mean cheaper and for a lower market target -- there is the corporate video or the events coverage fields, for example. Where $17,500 + accessories is high for the income and their standards.

The buttons are on the back, so that the other half of your duo can push the start button while you use both hands to hold the camera steady. (Just being cheeky.) :)"I sure hope the next generation has the user bit LCD information screen and the control buttons on the camera smart side (op side of camera) like most other cameras.
