There seem to quite a bit of noise on the net about Quicktime, the rendered output gamma and Apples 'inside tweaks'. Question is ... is there a document (Apple ?) that spells out which coded they leave alone and which they affect ?
Starting out with plain DPXs (unaffected) and visibly the same in RedAlert, Shake, PS, etc ... the rendered QT output (the gamma) seems to vary from coded to codec (not to mention the QT preferences for FCP 'compliance').
Maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but all this colour management stuff is a real mess ! Until it's done correctly, it would be nice to allow users to opt out !
