Hi there,

I have a lot of footage here ready for redrushes. But I have to use different ouput folders. Can I use different folders if I have 20 clips (for example)? Clip 1 on Folder 1, Clip 2 in Folder 2 and so forth.

Is this possible?

Cheers,
Ben

"Make subfolders".

Hi Nomad,

I use the option "Make Subfolders" but I canīt choose different output folders. I want Folder A for the first file, Folder B for the second and so forth. The reason is that I have different scenes and takes and I canīt put it in just one folder. Have to create a separate folder for each scene.

Cheers,
Ben

Sorry, but that wasn't clear from your question. I'm afraid you'll have to do that in batches by now. Let's suggest it as an option to the author of Clipfinder.

Hi,

I am the author of Clipfinder and I'd be willing to help, but I'm still not sure I understand what you need. I'm guessing you want
- clip1 in folder A
- clip 2 in folder B
- clip 3 in folder A
- clip 4 in folder C
- clip 5 in folder B
... etc.

The way you'd currently do that in Clipfinder is by entering a distinct tag for each output folder in the comments field, then sort by comment field, then select each group of clips manually and render them to the desired folder.

If you need to automate this further, I could add some logic to the render mechanism that would (optionally) create a subfolder for each distinct first word in the comments field. This could be done reasonably quickly.

Would that help ?

Hans

Ben,

I have implemented the feature described in my previous post.
It is included in Clipfinder version 2.1.2.
(for details see http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=309999#post309999)

Let me know if this works for you.

Cheers,
Hans

That's awesome. Thank you - that's a helpful feature. Something else that would help me is to group clips and apply one RSX file to all clips in a group. Is that possible?

joelnet,

Technically it is not a big deal, but what would the user interface for this look like ?

How about the following:
- when you select a clip that has an RSX file, you can press a "lift" button, which loads the RSX file into memory
- you then select multiple other clips and press a "stamp" button, which causes Clipfinder to copy the (slightly modified) RSX into each clip directory and to trigger a re-generation of the reference files
- this in turn causes Clipfinder to reload the thumbnails for the clips, so you can see if the settings are appropriate for each clip.
- if the settings do not quite fit a given clip, you open the clip in REDAlert and fine tune the settings.

Is this roughly what you need, or do you need to apply the RSX files specifically only when rendering ?

Cheers,
Hans

That sounds really good hgdaun and something I'd find quite handy to have in Clipfinder.

Another little thing I'd love to have in CF is a check for updates option. It's almost getting a bit hard to keep up with the releases.
