You have one last chance to get your reservations in before NAB. Reservations will be open again from Jan 21st to 24th.

The first cameras wil be shipped around 2nd quarter this year.

I'm correct?

do you know approx the cost of the camera? Cause right now I'm thinking about buying an HVX-200 with the m2 redrockmicro adapter....just to have a camera lying around.....when were not renting out the HDX .... but if this camera is coming out shortly and is not gonna cost $50,000 then maybe I should just wait it out

and and how much is it to reserve one?

Reservation costs (or did last round) $1000 for camera, $500 for 300mm lens, and $750 for 18-85mm zoom (not available until later in the year).

Pricing details for camera and lenses at http://red.com/ but obviously don't forget you'll need other bits and pieces to make up a kit, including at least one RED DRIVE to record onto (<$1000 for 320GB).

It will cost 17.500 body only. You might be looking for a kit between 20-25K if you are willing to use nikon lenses. With a Red zoom your costs will be around 25-30K, but the zoom lens won't be readly availiable. Or if you're okay renting lenses you can settle with only a body and basic accessories. Of course those prices are my own calculations and require some compromises on our part (Redrock follow focus instead of Chrosziel or Arri, A cheap/er Mattebox, etc...).

If you plan on renting the HDX, I'm figuring you could maybe think again, and just buy one of those packages instead.

But it's important to note that RED only annouced their targets and made no promisses so far, so EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE, even though major changes are rather unlikely...
