I posted this in another place before.
This should be the proper place sorry.
Today it happened for the second time, and with the second cable. The EVF Cable died. First the bolt like end plate fell off. Then the cable itself stopped working. In the viewfinder I could see all information but the image itself.
The shooting day was over since I had no spare cable.
Shit pommes frites!
Any clues and/or did someone else experience this?

I'll bet RED will Fed Ex you a new one free tomorrow. Have you told them about it?
My A/C cable was acting up Friday and I had a new one in Sydney Monday, no charge, no freight. These guys are great to work with.
But to answer your question, my EVF (and LCD cable) have been rock solid.

Two days later.
When I try the second cable and the same EVF, what happens?
Yes it works again.
But it does not make me feel safe.

Consider getting backup cables.

Every cable needs a backup on a film set. If you don't you're playing Russian Roulette.
All the cables I have gotten from Red have no threadlocker on the screw and become loose quite easily. Buy some loctite, apply to all the cable threads and be done with it...

My EVF cable fell apart also. I Did reassemble it OK though.
Seems to me its a bad batch or bad assembly.

Back up, back up, back up -
Even with parts, especially cables.... Now you understand why...
