My Red is audio updated, new audio board and nice sound. Yesterday though we pluged the mini XLR cable that is provided by Red and it stucked inside the female plug that is on the body. Cannot come out. Looks like that the spring that locks and unlocks the plug is broken. It happened on CH1, we managed to unplug it but now happened again on CH2 and it is impossible to unplug it.
Someone has an answer or similar problem with this? We are in the middle of a feature and it is really embarrassing having these kinds of silly problems.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
Panos

I have seen similar symptoms.
A breakoutbox to "real" xlrs could help...

For the miniXLR that is stuck, you might want to try the following:

Put a bit of pressure on the mini plug (as if you were inserting it into the socket) and at the same time use a small tool to depress the lock tab. Cycle the lock tab a few times and then try an extract.

Keeping a short set of pig tails attached to the body and then only breaking the connections at the full sized end will ensure that you don't run into problems in the future.

Hi Panos

I have the exact same problem. First time I had to sent the camera back to RED and get a new audio board. Now it has happened again so I have to sent it back to get it fixed again.

It happened on CH1

Yeah, that happened on channel 1 the first time I plugged into it. Finally I worked it out somehow. From then on the miniXLR doesn't click in and lock. That's actually better. Those plugs are tight enough to stay in with friction. I now have a breakout box for phantom power and only plug XLR's in and out. That's better.

You're best off to leave those miniXLR's plugged in all the time because they don't work too well.
