The following words are rantings and raving of a fed up voter:
I'm not sure either candidate's economic policies will help out. Both seem to want to grow government, both seem to think that more programs and more money will fix things. In those debates, they talked about taxes & who will bear the burden of paying them, but the one thing I heard nothing about from either of their mouths was the fact that both their plans would call for more money from the tax payers (either the middle class or the rich depending on candidate) and how that's NOT what we need.
I don't care who pays, or how it's structured in some 500 page revision to the tax code, the problem is that SOMEONE has to pay for all this crap. Both these morons can't see the real problem. I'm sick of it.
We're burning through billions paying for a war. History has clearly shown that protracted wars always hurt countries economically. Somehow people are missing this fact.
We're spending billions on war because we're oil junkies and neither candidate seems to have a good grasp on the real problem; our dependence on oil & the fact that we get our oil from a people who are opposed to our way of life infecting their society. If they don't want us, they don't get us... or our money and all is well.
I know this is pie in the sky, but if we spend a trillion dollars on the war when it's all said and done and we're still involved in an area that doesn't want us or like us and we're still giving them all our money (for their oil) what's the point? What have we gained? For god's sake, just take the places over, make them republic of ours and call it a day. At least then we can just take the oil and come out ahead economically.
If you're not going to do this, then how about spending that trillion dollars on research and funding of alternate energy sources, or building nuke plants, or making a oil free vehicle that will actually make sense for consumers. A trillion dollars would go a LONG way to making some of these things a reality much quicker than the pace at which they're currently crawling along.
Both these guys are campaigning as agents of change. Real change starts with getting people in office who have a pair & aren't afraid to, I don't know, try something different if the current course of action isn't working.
