Hello RED Team,
Just wondered if you would be happy to let me (us) know the following dimension (see images below) ? I'm starting to plan my approach for an underwater housing ... [the arrow heads are to the relative outer edges].
If you are not happy to release the info I understand (just wanted to think about my options with more than 'guestimated' dimensions).
Thanks,
David.

Hi David,
You probably want to include batteries and other basic attachments like the Magazines etc in these dimension requirements.
Just my thoughts.

suggestion to the RED team..make your 3d data available to 3rd party dev. as catia graphics .cgr ..this is just a graphic representation file, no 'actual 3d model' (only polygonal rep. file). this way 3rd parties can model whatever accessory 'round RED one accurately without you giving away confidential data..just a thought

Indeed Mark ... was just testing the water for some dimensions :D
I would settle for just overall H W & D dimensions (ie: if I was to make a made to measure box to enclose the RED ONE, what size would that be ? Then I can make some allowances for batteries, lens, controls etc :) )
We might have to wait a while. I'm currently trying to plan for NAB 2007, and hopefully there will be one on the RED stand (fingers crossed) !
As you know, the lead time to getting a housing up and running can be significant (in this case the optics will be the time eater). I'm now thinking of a very simple design for my Mk1 housing to accommodate a size I've extrapolated from the rendered images. Initially looking to do water interface stuff ... so housing can be quite simple.
Like you I'm way down the line in the reservation list, but still keen to grab some water footage before the UK summer is over :) ... I have a few trips planned, but cannot rely on the RED being with me, let alone water ready !
Cheers

This is as close as we've gotten to size data.

Hi David,
I hear you with regards to having that extra wait for the housings etc. AT least that will allow me the time to get my hands on the camera and do a lot of topside testing, this is my first foray into this level of cinematography so its going to be a very big learning curve for me.
Cheers,
Mark.
