hi there,

having a problem editing a 24p project on avid (shot on RED) - when playing back in realtime either in the player or the recorder window there are double frames.

can this be an ALE problem like mentioned in another thread?

kind regards,
martin

Was this shot at a different frame rate than the playback rate (VFR)? How was the ALE created? What app was used?

This may be similar to a problem I was having earlier...be sure that your clips do not have in/out points marked in Red Alert or RedCine as this messes with the ALE and creates a stutter that looks like doubled frames (Michael P said that Redcine should be able to do in/out points but I can't seem to get it to work). To double check if it's the ALE try importing just the clip w/out the ALE first and see if it plays normally...if it does then its a problem w/the ALE.

Hope this helps!

Just a bit more information is needed here... if using REDCINE, it creates the QT wrapped DNxHD media from its own in/out points and the ALE should reflect that new duration - if that is the worklow that is causing this issue, I will track it down.

Or is the workflow from RED Alert, or REDline, or other application that is using the refernce file and the media is created duing import? Then we need to check on how that ALE got created to ensure it matches its new duration.

Thanks -
