So I have read conflicting info regarding the long red generated clip names. Once and for all, with updated software, a planned Nitris DPX conform and a MC 1:1 HD finish through REDCINE, can I go or can't I change the master clip names in MC? I've read that it will screw up relinking later, but also that new updates solve that problem.

Sorry if this is ad naseum for you guys, if there is already a thread a link will do fine. I would love to have my scene and takes as the names, but if there is even a reasonable chance of it causing a major pain the A later down the line I can make with the red names and my scripty notes.

Thanks, as always!

I haven't heard/read about any updates that fix the naming structure...
I'm getting used to the long line of letters/numbers...
If you're transcoding, you can name the quicktimes whatever you want...

You can change the clip names to whatever you want. I do it all the time and it doesn't make any sense not to.

As long as the full filename is present somewhere in the clip metadata (Camroll, Filename, Tape for example) and the timecode is correct then everything is set for online... If you need to move the Red filename to a different column before conform, you can just highlight the column and use Edit > Duplicate and choose a target for it.
