I am wondering if there is a way to jump forward in the CHANGE menu options of the reel count in larger increments than 1. This is because dialing in reel numbers can take a while if you reach high numbers and I am expecting to reach 130 - 180 reels on a film I am working on.
I have yet to see the force or reset of the internal reel count set a correct sequential reel count. So I will rely on the change option and need a fast way of selecting the reel numbers.
Thanks.

Strange, we've had no issues with the RESET function - are you using the FORMAT button immediately afterwards? What is your exact step-by-step formatting procedure that's failing to change the internal counter?
For us:
* Attach mag
* SYSTEM->MEDIA->RESET
* Set reel number (Usually 1, but we've done others)
* Click left and hit FORMAT
* Confirm if necessary (usually we empty mags before returning to camera)
* OK once done
If you do the above using "CHANGE" instead of "RESET", then it will format a new mag with the correct reel number but will not change the internal reel counter.
If you do the above without using the FORMAT command within the sub-menu, I'm not entirely sure what happens but it probably doesn't work like it's supposed to.

Ditto - as Cail says.

It would be very useful if the rotary knob of the joystick was able to move in increments greater than one, for both roll number and other things like vari-speed frame rate. The ideal would seem to be a non-linear response as is used with track-pads and mice. I guess the rotary encoder used is not capable of this, or Red might have already implemented it.

I have been following the correct procedure, that said I was not present for every mag format. This means that the focus puller may have used the change option to change the reel number ignoring the internal count.
Not exactly sure what happened every time I had the reel numbers not count correctly. Been working on mostly shot short dramas TVC and video clips to date. So using the change function has not been a problem, but now on a feature I want to be sure that the reel numbers are correct. As dialing in reel number 157 will be a pain in the a#@ and for post this will be crucial.
Will try it again by the book but would be good to consider for future builds an option for a larger increment increase on the dial knob.
