It seems like the O'Conner tripod heads are much in favour with redusers.
A bulk purchase of at least five O'Conner tripod heads would command a 20% discount from one retailer in uk. We are talking just the heads not the complete head and legs.
The 1030HD would suit my needs. How many UK reservation holders would be interested in such a deal?

Hi Mike,
I would be very interested in this. I'm still trying to work out if the 1030 is enough for a fully loaded Red, in which case I may have to go for the 2060.
Would your retailer be able to give the 20% on a combo order of 1030s and 2060's?
Also, if you go with the 1030 - check out www.indiedolly.com for tripods. They do a heavy duty tripod for $599 which is a damn sight cheaper than the O'connor legs and has a weight capacity of 190 pounds.

Thats where i made enquiries. I feel pretty sure they would include whatever head we asked for provided it is o'Connor and there are five orders.
I am going for lightweight legs such as the miller solo as all of my work is out on the field carrying gear etc. Part of my reason for going with O'connor is the resale value should i have to sell at a later date. When you buy low quality goods you rarely get much back when you sell. Buy quality sell at quality price, the pleasure of using great gear you can end up getting for free.
Maybe some of you guys have already done some work and got even better prices. Lets just keep each other informed as to what is going on.

Very true Mike, also the realiability of the kit is very important.

I am not in the UK but I would go in on a bulk deal. Might defeat the purpose if they must ship to me in the US. Good luck with that.

Hi Mike
I'll be interested in going in with you on the 5.
What sort of price can Production Gear do on the 2060? Sometime its still works out cheaper buying from the US even with a discount.
Regards
Rory

I would be into any bulk buying: head, legs, FF, mattebox etc ..... As for a head I also need to examine weight first?
What we looking at in terms of cost?

Guys,
If you're serious about O'Connor sort out an import deal. Prices over here are ridiculous and always have been. I imported a 2575C a few years back, got the newest version 6 months before it officially arrived in this country for two thirds the price of a UK dealer.
I always had it serviced by UK Rental houses Arri, PV etc when on longer jobs so no need for stateside support. Then I sold it earlier this year for 2/3rds what I originally paid!
Import and carriage was about £400-500, easily offset by the savings.

O'connor tripods come with a world wide warranty which means any O'connor dealer has to fix it. If there's a large difference between UK & US prices I'd ring up O'connor to confirm for yourselves the warranty setup and then ask one of the US forums for a cheap supplier. someone was saying they priced the head only in US for $US3800.
Cheers,

Reading the thread here, I'm not entirely clear. Are there people on the American side of the pond trying to band together for a discount? If so, count me in.

I'm in the US as well, but if bulk buying is cheaper than B&H for the head, I would be very interested.

Maybe there is a US supplier that would consider doing the same thing? I'm looking to order in October.
Likewise I'd love to hear about a US supplier offering a discount on O'Conner gear (as well as Arri Mb and FF!!!).
October for me as well.

For those who are thinking about getting this via B&H, I just got a quote back from Production Gear here in the UK and it's definitely cheaper than buying and importing.

I'm looking to buy a 2060 with sticks in the UK. There must be quite a few Red reservation holders in the same situation that wants to negotiate a good deal, right?
