Was at the National Emmy awards in NYC on Friday. These were the Emmy's given out for Humanitarian and Community Service. We were nominated for a documentary called “Prometheus Bound: The Epidemic of Hepatitis C.” in the Community Service category. It's been playing on PBS nationally. We were up against 4 other shows. MTV won. You could tell they, and the others, had much larger budgets in their productions than we did. But at least we got to the dance! This doco was a few years in the making and we followed some great characters. I wish we could have done it on my Red! Next one!! The pic is of me and the EP and the plaque they give you for getting there...I'd have preferred the statue! I'm the short one in the foto!

Thanks! Currently it's only on PBS and it's up to the individual PBS stations as to when and/or how often it airs. I'll have to check and see if it is available on DVD.

Thanks! There are a lot of people who don't know they have the disease because it lays dormant for decades, but eventually attacks the liver. There is no cure but to have a liver transplant...and those are hard to come by. Many people die waiting for a transplant. PLEASE EVERYONE...BE AN ORGAN DONOR. Not only sign your license, but make sure your family knows your wishes as it will be them who make the ultimate decision! The current treatment, which is not pleasant, works on only a percentage of people who go through it. And some people cannot make it through the treatment because of the side effects.

I'll keep a lookout for this doc on PBS. I only recently learned about the differences between the viruses and that you can die from C. My roommate's dad only expects to live another 5 years.
