Hi!

Is it still possible to update the build of the camera through the SD card? It doesn't work for me... I know that most people do it through the CF card, but I'm just wondering.

I put the folder "upgrade" on the SD card and it's not recognized as an upgrade.

Can you still do it?

Thanks.

SD didn't work for me upgrading from 15 to 16, with CF it worked very well!

It works on some builds and not others. It will not work with certain SD card capacities... nothing above 512MB on some cameras.

It worked to upgrade from 16 to 17 for me, no worries.

Did every update with SD Card, works fine for me every time. I also keep the older Builds on the SD Card for Emergency. Never had a problem yet.

I never had a problem before, I“ve been doing the upgrade since build 13, but I have a reference file now, a LOG file, that I“ve never seen before. First, I tought it was a reference file of the black shadding, now... I“m not sure. Does it happen to anyone before?
Thanks -in advance.

Hi,

I tried with two different SD cards, both 2GB in size... Maybe that's the problem. Should I find one that is only 1GB?

That is correct, the maximum size of SD Card supported by the RED-ONE is 1GB.

Inability to upgrade should have nothing to do with Builds, or whether you use a CF or SD or USB or RED-DRIVE or RED-RAM. So long as there is an "upgrade" file on any one of those media, the upgrade should work fine.

Three limitations.

You can't use 2GB SD Cards - see above

You can't use the same "upgrade" file twice - the data is erased.

You can't upgrade from Build 15 to 16 or 17 without first going to Build 15 V2.2.8

I have a reference file now, a LOG file, that I“ve never seen before.

The .LOG file is a camera error message file, its exported by the camera when you press the WRITE LOG key. You can discard it, its there to help RED technical support.

I have found an alternative solution.

I plugged in the 2GB SD card through the USB port on the camera. It now recognizes the upgrade and I am performing the system upgrade as I type.

Thanks Stuart for mentioning the USB port - I completely forgot about it.

I guess there are many ways to install a new build on the camera...
