I have a little piece of information missing.....
Scenario:
I shoot 4k REDCODE RAW, edit online REDCODE RAW in FCP 6, expost EDL to REDCINE, and then export to format/codec/resolution for master distribution. But is it possible to export the whole movie or only each shots individually?
thanks,
antoine.

Suspect seperate shots with defined handles.. What if the offline has dissolves etc..? also grading after conform.
Suspect you re-conform with 4k > render dissolves etc.. > Grade.
S(uspect)

The answer is REDCINE is NOT a conform or finishing application. So we would just export the clips at the resolution required to complete those processes in a downstream applicataion.

Thanks Stuart for your answaer.
That mean that FCP 6 won't be enough for 4k final export, as (if I am right) it won't be able to export 4k sequence.

FCP, even the current version, can work at 4K, if you use a couple of tricks. How viable this will actually be, we don't know yet, but it is at least possible a 4K finish in FCP will work.

Currently, there is no viable digital 4k distribution model. I KNOW that will change, but for now - most folks will:
A). Finish on HD (for broadcast, DVD and film fest festival)
B). FILM RECORD OUT to 35mm from 2K or 4K files
For A - you cut in 1K extraction from the native redcode raw files or a transcoded proxy from REDCINE.
One very popular workflow with low budget folks will be to transcode all material to ProRES 2K in REDCINE - cut and finish in 2K - (Color grading tool of your choice in 2K) cropping on output to 16x9 HD. Master to SR, D5 or HDCAM and/or HDDVD or BluRay DVD - archieve 2K color graded QT or file sequence
If suddenly someone wants to distribute the film theatrically - you would have the option to just do a 2K film record out from your archieved QT or file sequence
Record out from 2K? Why not record out from 4K, you ask?
Well, if you can afford it, do it. It will look better. Keep in mind - 2K record out with optical soundtrack and a answerprint is about $40K from 2K - from 4K you are looking at $75K+ (.50-.56 a frame for just the neg record)
MOST films today are recorded out from 2K files -
** Laser Pacific has only recorded ONE feature to date entirely 4K- BLACK DALIA
eFilm seems to be taking the lead in 4K record outs, including
“Casanova” Disney Studios
“Jarhead”, Universal Pictures
“Stealth”, Sony/Columbia
“Rent”, Revolution Studios
“Family Stone”, Fox.
in addition to the first 4K feature record out, "Spiderman 2"
If you want the option to record out 4K - you need to color grade in a system that allows you to "reconnect to 4K files" (apply your color grades from your HD or proxy timeline to 4K media) unless you color grade in 4K in SCRATCH, BASELIGHT, etc. in the first place -
For our feature projects, we PLAN (based on info available now) to cut directly from 4K redcode raw over SAN (using FXPlug LUTS made in REDCINE) - all "camera negative" (all 4K redcode raw media shot) sitting on a Gspeed XL safe and sound in RAID3 - color grade in SCRATCH directly from same files over SAN - FX artists can also access original media in RAW, etc.
SCRATCH then allows us to render out 4K for film record out - or HD in 444
