What people can do with 28K motion pictures?

Is our systems capable enough in 2010?

This one's really for high-end professional photography and maybe for some special film shoots like for trade fairs and park rides. It will be a while until this format can be used efficiently for major film production.
I'd love to shoot a movie on it though! I always felt scope still wasn't wide enough. :)

Combine this shooting format with the Watchout! system for spanning projectors and you can easily shoot background elements for HUGE Keynotes displays! It might take you 4 projectors all synced to get the width of the 28K device.

I see the 617 being used for industrial applications like military or NASA. One would only be limited by the curvature of the earth:)

I know what I would use it for: Spherical photography.

Put two back to back with 180* fish eye lenses. Put on mast and you have a 360* 50k video file for VFX plates.

That right there is where it'll be worth it.

I think a economic crysis is the best time for putting out great technology !
How else would you stay alive ?

I really want to know what Apple is going to do ?
Maybe there will be something called REDMAC ????

Very quickly RED cameras resolution and color temperatures will be easy things to mix up.

Well you would need well over 100 hi-def display devices to cover a full 28k frame... so maybe 40 x 4K projectors with blended overlap?

Boggles the mind doesn't it?

How about shooting VERY large plates for greenscreen work ? A digital option to replace shooting 65mm plates ? You shoot your foreground and matchmove your background to fit ;-)
