Seems to me that Eric can now collapse with joy, as many new FF35 camera owners will be wanting electronic lens control of their canon or nikon lenses.
Hopefully EF-S lens-mounting ability also, which will also work with the S35 sensors or cropped FF35 sensor options.
I'm glad it's going to work out fine for him.

What if Red's canon mount had electronic lens control as well?

Both the Scarlett and Epic S35/FF35 can use Red mounts that use Red electronic lenses that have AF.

But Erik's mount will still have FF if Red doesn't incorporate that as well.

From Jim's announcement:

Leverage your investment in optics. Sensor modules support PL, RED, Canon and Nikon mounts, which may be interchanged as required to suit a specific lens or application. Mounts include power and intelligent lens data interfaces.

I guess it is pretty clear that the birger mount won't be needed for Scarlet and Epic. Apparently, RED isn't going to discontinue the RED One, so the need for the Birger mount will still be there.
