In conjunction with the announcement of RED Scarlet and Epic Mr Jannard has emphasized on his collaboration with Adobe. What happened to the partnership with Apple?

I think they will continue to work between RED and Apple. But really Apple is just "turtle" in supporting RED. It will keep on going but the real question is how far and fast it will go ?

Despite our impatience (and mine, believe me!) regarding Apple, I'm not sure we can qualify them as being "Turtles". They are in the process of making major changes to their system (OS) as well as their video editing software to properly deal with huge files such as those generated by the RED. If I'm not mistaken, huge changes are underway for the whole Quicktime engine. This means they need to synchronize end-user software changes with lower-level changes. They can't put the cart before the horse so to speak.
Apple generally makes it a policy to *not* discuss upcoming products. Adobe is just coming out with direct support for the RED and Macworld January 2008 is just around the corner. Should apple drop the ball and fail to announce major updates in Final Cut Studio which address the needs of the RED community, then we can label them turtles.

Ok...we will see. But it doesnt change my mind about them before i see any result from them. I still see them as slow and never listen to user. Until the new one release, i wont change my mind.

i think Apple will have big things to announce regarding red workflow at NAB, not MacWorld....

O hold on, how about inter-grade an iphone module on the Epic? Better yet, while you're shooting the caller ID will display not only in the EVF but LCD too. Apple can choke on a big one for all I care. I hope the two would never merge.

Apple's new OS (Snow Leopard) is supposed to be a big deal when it comes out later next year, maybe they'll really be able to tap into multi-core CPUs and GPU acceleration for 4K+ material in realtime? Who knows?
Either way, I would expect a new version of Final Cut Studio to coincide with these new cameras, even if it is a FCS 2.1 release.

I guess this is why they are holding out any upgrades to mac pros...cause they want to launch new line of pro comp with snow leopard? Anyways...many people who got involved with RED was because of apples commitment so I really with adobe stirring things up that maybe apple will get with the program.

i wouldn't expect to hear anything from Apple until its out. We do know that they're working on a complete overhaul of QT, which will then most likely mean significant changes to the video applications also, and there will be big changes in the OS also.
I thought I heard Q2 for Quicktime X, which makes me think Maybe they'll announce everything at NAB :) They're mostly working pretty closely with RED right now, and we just don't know about it.
