I just got a call from Fotokem in Los Angeles today that we may have base scratches on roll 2 of our film. God I wish I had had the Red One on this shoot. Super35 is great but dear god when stuff like this happens my heart sinks into my stomach. Telecine is Thursday, wish me luck...

If it's only on one roll, blame fotokem :)

Fotokem said it was 50/50 that it would show up. Can you tell me what these software solutions are for base scratch removal and how well they work? The last thing I want to do is a frame by frame removal... Also, sorry for posting this in this forum but it's the only place I can trust the answers I receive. :)

If it's only a scratch in the base coat I thought a wet gate telecine would fix that.

I read something about that. You think a Spirit with a DaVinci 2K system could simulate something like that?

Scratches often dont even show up if you TK on a spirit, otherwise wet gate can solve the problem. And remember a neg scratch better than a failed hard drive!

Also take a look at another piece of software that can help in fixing film damage. "Film Fix v1.0 (http://redgiantsoftware.com/filmfix1.html#examples)" by "Red Giant Software".
Don't worry, no frame-by-frame removal will be required.:bleh:

Film-Fix works a treat. I've used it a few times with great results. It does the same thing as MTI Correct, which is the expensive industry standard.
