Cool, probably the first time an internet geek forum has been mentioned in mainstream media.

Just in case the article gets locked up in the paid L.A.Times archive . . .

"Although he has been absent from the big screen, Jackson last month unveiled 'Crossing the Line,' a 12-minute demonstration film featuring World War I trench warfare and an aerial battle between German and English biplanes.

Jackson's test was made public in conjunction with a technology demonstration of a new prototype digital camera, Red One, that premiered at the National Assn. of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas last month. Jackson's test was shot in late March for two days on an airstrip an hour north of Wellington, New Zealand. Clips of the film can be viewed at RedUser.net."

Very cool mention of REDUSER.net, indeed!

*thousands of LA times readers flock to reduser.net only to find dozens of procrastinators confabulating the merits of film vs digital*

Yeah sure. But theyre not internet forums. Not in the classic way anyway. They are link blogs with commentary. Oh and you forgot Fark.com.

Wait a second... you guys are saying we are all geeks? This is hitting me really hard... I'm going to have to take a break from reduser.net for a while and reexamine my life...

They don't say much about the camera. It's about Peter himself though I guess.

baby steps...

First a byline in the LA Times.

Then a blurb on CNN.

Then Oprah.

Then the world will tremble.

Nerds and Geeks rule the free world, and have more fun doing it, What's to re-examine about that?

Funny, by the time the "news" hits the paper it's not news anymore.

Wow, the aricle makes it sounds like these are rough times for Peter.

The saddest part is that he won't be able to direct Hobbit.

I can't think of anyone better to direct Hobbit than Peter.

Sounds to me like a rough time for new-line.

Well, if RED can knock off a million or 2 off the production budget, then its come at a rather good time in cinema.
