Anybody know if Red will be okay with Pentax or leica lens?

Pentax screw mount probably via a 42mmSM to Canon FD (planned for RED) adapter. Leica M mount most probably never, as the flange (lens to film) distance is way too short. Leica R - why not, if somebody makes a mount.

Hi,
There is no spinning mirror so Leica May be possible (new camera front), all depends what is in front of the sensor.

an off shoot of this question but could I use the regular Canon EF lenses or do I have to use the Canon FD's and if not why?

Because they require electronics to porperly operate the iris. There may be a third party solution to this in the future.

Here's an interesting lens test. I must say I'm very inpressed by the Nikon 17-35 f2.8

From what I have read the 17-35 is a stunning lens and may well outperform the Contax Zeiss 18mm. But I am slightly cautious in taking this lens comparison at face value, the reason being that the tests were undertaken on a Canon 5D using a Nikon - Canon lens adapter. The same guy got slightly odd results when testing the Nikon 14mm that were inconsistent with the results and conclusions arrived at by other reviewers. On a subsequent test of some different lenses he changed the adapter mid test and found huge differences between the reults when using different adapters, but only on some lenses http://www.16-9.net/lens_tests/15mm_2/sigma1224vnikon15f.html. Hmmm.
It doesn't mean his conclusions with the 17-35 aren't valid, but I think one shouldn't read to much into them in isolation.
