Okay..I can't seem to find this issue anywhere and Monkey's help file is no help (although I have asked them this same question and I am awaiting a reply) so here it goes:

Exported CMX3600 edl to monkey, opened edl in monkey and set up to export DPX files for After effects. but the DPX files, or Tiff, or quicktimes all come out white or black.
now I've followed the installation to the letter..and when i use RedAltert or RedCine to create DPX files they work fine. but I have a complex (cutty) EDL and I need Monkey..what am i doing wrong?

My goal? a 4K image in After effects with the fullest color space for color correction (grading) before I bring it back into the Avid as HD.

I just blew $400 on Monkey and it doesn't work.

Not happy tonight.

UPDATE: reinstalled Monkey and now it says it can even find the appropriate red files when I hit start (which it never had a problem with before).

There doesn't appear to be a way to cleanly UNinstall this damn thing.

UPDATE2: carved out everything I could find, did multiple, multiple exports of every possible permutation. Reinstalled the software again & again...tried the TEMP password as well as the official password. Adjusted the EDLs in a text program. Did all the above again and again.

there are no Zero time codes.

The files used to be recognized by the program and now they don't

It's all teh right frame rate.

Did it as both a Red16 and a CMX3600.

Tried one clip EDLs. Tried different clips.

It's now 4AM here, I'm out of ideas and I am dead tired.

If anyone has any suggestions on a Sunday I've be open to hearing them anytime.

Okay..two things caused me grief. One was that the Redline update (installed when you install Red Alter 3.6) was still in version 3.57. (something that shows up only when you check it in the Terminal by typing "redline" at the prompt) and Monkey Extract did not like that one bit.

That was causing my EDL issues.

My colour issues, for anyone out there having this issue too, were caused by a D.O.P.'s RSX settings handed to me for color reference.

It turns out that in Monkey Extract if I chose the RSX setting but then turned it off, Monkey was still looking at that path for some reason. So I had to highlight it and delete it so the path window was clear, SAVE the settings next and then go back in and say "don't use RSX settings".

Hope this helps anyone else out there who is running into this.

Drop a quick reply to this if it helps!

Hi Jeffery,

Glad we could sort it out. We didn't see the redline update coming, but the next release will deal with it later this week.
