I think enough people on this forum care about this lens to know - the backorder on the Tokina 11-16 doesn't seem to be as bad as people think. I ordered from Adorama on Oct. 16th and they're shipping mine out today (Nov. 17th.) From the markups I've seen on eBay and other places, you'd think the wait is more like 5 months.

Thanks! I ordered one from Adorama the other day....this is the great thing about having the Nikon mount. See a lens that you think will work well....buy it without paying an arm and a leg. Nice addition to my Zeiss ZF package.

How is the over all build quality, is it really comparable to the Zeiss ZF?Anyone share some results with this guy?

Champe Barton and I got our Canon versions a couple weeks ago. Hope to do some side by side tests in the next few days.

I don't think any modern AF lens has quite the same build quality as the Zeiss, the physics of rapid AF dictate keeping some of the weight down. Since they are manual lenses and Zeiss usually builds them like tanks anyway they just are going to be a more solid build.

But the Tokina seems to be very solid for an AF lens similar to my canon L series.

The Tokina is a solid lens. I waited and waited and finally paid about $80 over retail to get one off of ebay. It rocks.

Matt, that's a really nice image and good real world test shot. Anywhere we can get the full size image to really look at the corner sharpness/CA?

Thanks,

Mike

We shot a bit with my new Tokina over the weekend. The clip I posted here was shot in a very small room... the camera was about 2' from the edge of the bed.
