Could we please have piece of RAW footage soon?
FCP6 is due out this month (and like many people in this forum, we ordered it the day it was announced) but our RED wont arrive till early 08. Therefore we'd like the chance to setup/develop our resources in preparation for the Camera. This would dramatically shorten the lead time needed to have the system up and running and when the RED does arrive we are all ready to go in post and can concentrate our time on the Camera itself.
This assumes FCP will have redcode support soon too.
It only needs to be a few seconds or so. Maybe you can also view this as a bit of beta testing.
Cheers
Tony

FCP 6 will not have RED support out of the gate. That will come later (this year).
For the moment we're not doing "public" beta testing.

Can we expect though to get hold of some footage before we get our camera?

I would imagine that the first 100 res holders will be doing ALOT of testing with their Redones as soon as it arrives... i think it's safe to say we will be seeing a good amount of footage: raw, cc'd, compressed etc... in the next few months to come!

correct.. there is no reason to post RAW footage as 99.9% of you wouldnt be able to do anything with it.
Some of you will be able to get footage before your camera ships, and those lucky few that dont get to be the ones that generate the footage.

OK. so im working this out. The first batch of RED's are due April/May...these are really beta cameras going to RED crew.
The real first production batch is due in June..next month, maybe!
So one is to assume that Apple will release RED code support on or before these dates otherwise all these people will be highly pissed off as they will be able to shoot, but not edit.
So really RED code support should be expected to be included with the first batch or near to of FCP.
Please correct me if I have this wrong

You have this wrong. As Jim indicated we are on a small delay for delivery.
FCP support for REDCODE enhances your experience, it works fine without. The QuickTime codec and other bits will be available for users before these enhancements will be available in FCP.
We will also keep updating the software to add new features and remove bugs etc.

Thanks Rob, but now im confused...didnt you just contradict yourself from the previous post saying that FCP wont have RED support out of the gate? Could we define "RED support"?
Sorry if Im being a pain in the BS

When will REDCode RGB the codec be available for purchase?

No details have been made public on availability yet Gavin.
Bachman: since we have a "normal" QuickTime codec it will (should) work with all QT supporting applications, including FCP (5 and 6).
The later to be released FCP 6.x makes the codec real-time enabled and facilitates some other things (so you can work with the FxPlug for example).
In other words: you'll be able to load your footage into FCP before specific RED support is added in. It will just be a better (more integrated) experience with full support enabled.

Clarification: Red 1 through 5 are Jim Jannard's, RED 10 is Jarred's, RED 12 is Brian Ferguson's. Those are members of what you called RED crew (RED Team). RED 6 & 7 are going to Offhollywood and RED 8 is coming to me, and neither Offhollywood or myself are members of the RED crew (RED Team), we're independent reservation holders. That only leaves two numbers left in the first batch to ship: 9 and 11. The receivers of RED 9 and 11 have never been identified to my knowledge, but they could be RED Team members or independent reservation holders.
