View Full Version : Configurations?

Currently it appears that Scarlet and Epic are configurable in a linear horizontal fashion creating a bit of a front heavy situation (depending on lens etc.)
It would be cool to have the ability to stack pieces vertically as well, helping distribute weight evenly based on the specific needs of individuals varying configurations.
...just a thought

I would like to see a module that includes i/o plus recording and a battery v-mount on the back. Basically it would just be the brain, and one big module that turns it all into a super sexy hand held camera with a nice cutout. Maybe an indent on the smart side for the redmote so it doesn't stick out too much and is easily accessible. Maybe a couple of rossettes as well for handles.

Lets just say I'm already working on my dream accessory... :ninja:

This modular approach really opens up interesting possibilities for third-parties. Particularly if Red publishes the protocols for the remote... third parties would just be able to build camera bodies in appropriate form factors for different markets, and people could buy them and snap in the Red components. You could see an entire ecosystem developing around this sort of thing, with form factors designed for ENG-style shooting, or modeled on popular film cameras, or designed for all sorts of specialty applications.
