Have I missed the prices on the Epic/Scarlet modules? That is, all the components that click together. Those will heavily impact the cost of an operational Scarlet.

Shawn, I asked the question and the answer was that these are not known at this stage.
Tico, let me know where I send my banking details for the $64k...

Hi,
I think the entry level will be a small fraction of the $25,000 required for a basic Red One package.

i actually think that the accessories will be in the same price range as they are now. remember, all these accessories are for the epic too. for the most part, i the only real price difference will be for the brains.

Even if the cost to produce the DSMC modules are equal to the Red ONE accessories, more modules are expected to be sold with each Scarlet. By mass producing more modules, the production cost should be cheaper.

Hi,
Bear in mind that the cost of producing a product is usually unconnected with it's sale price, the price charged is what the manufacture believes the market will pay. In the case of Cars they are often sold for less than the production costs.

While Red could sell the modules at price merely competitive, their track record suggests otherwise. For example, the Pro 18-85 lens is sold under 10k, easily a third of what they could charge.

Hi,
It depends how many they would want to sell, based on the spending power of their prospective customers, at $29,000 I don't think there would be a waiting list.

I'm willing to speculate.
Basic production package 2500-3500.
It would have to include the most basic accessories to shoot and be something that would scale up through all the brains. I would assume a way to view (2.8 lcd), and a way to power (handle or battery pack), and something to record to (cf module).
I think it would depend on what is considered the base model: the fixed lens (and what is built in) or the 2/3rds scarlet.
