Hi just ran a couple of test on a macbook pro and AVID.

it seems that the ALE is fixed now... no frames added or missing on the imported files... Any comments anyone or even verification of my test?

Like to say also great transcoding times, on a macbook got 3 x real time export to quicktimes and then realtime import into AVID.

Yes the metadata issues have been fixed in this release (thanks Deanan!) The only remaining one is the logging of audio tracks which is not yet defined in the ALE when created. There will be an updated step by step guide to reflect the changes in REDrushes.

There is a minor spelling error in the RR ALE header:
CamRoll instead of Camroll, but it imports correctly to the bin.
Also, I think that for some situations it would be nice to have the Labroll column filled with the first 4+last 2 characters of the filename i.e.:
A002_C004_1121XH > Labroll A002XH.

Extraction of shorter file names from the long file name can be done via the XSL file as a post process when delivering to whatever system is being used. I don't know of any systems that use the first 4 + last two - do you?

If I want to use a GVG EDL (because it can have up to 9999 events and because DS cannot load a Red16 EDL), I have to use 6-character tape name.
I think that the first 4 + last 2 characters is a good solution because it uniquely identifies the Redmag, even if a CA accidentally resets the camera's counter on the same day.
By the way is it possible to have a Transfer Red16 EDL template (for more than 999 events)?

CMX is limited to 254 or so events. We just modified the template to be 999 and will be updating the tools on avid.com/red. Please register for the update email to be in the know when that happens.
I will look into father modification of the EDL to do more than 999. DS will use AFE for the conform... stay tuned.

We are still on DS v8.4, so to link to DPX rendered with monkey extract, we need an EDL.
I made some quick tests and monkey extract seems to work with CMX3600:
1. When reel id type=cameraroll and remove middle is checked (8 characters).
2. When reel id type=labroll and labroll=first 4 + last 2 (6 characters).

Also, our Baselight's autoconform seems to work with almost anything.

I still think it's a good idea to have a Labroll column in the RR ALE, just for those cases someone needs an alternative.
We wrote a custom script to add that column, seems to work, more tests to follow...

Hello,
As we are starting to go into the avid workflow for a feature fully shot on red, I would like to know how to create the QT refernce files as explain in the avid workflow using Red rushes. At a stage I manage to relink the QT refernce _H without doing any transcoding or convertion to but cannot do it again. Would you know anything about that?

There has to be a transcode somewhere in the process in order to edit in the Media Composer. That is either being done via REDrushes with the latest version or during the import of the QT reference files.
