View Full Version : Help me decide on a new dslr

I haven't paid much attention to dslr releases the last few years, but now that I'm getting back into photography I'm thinking of upgrading my 20d - or maybe not. My primary reason to upgrade would be for high iso performance. The new Nikon D700 looks really sweet in this regard. I love to shoot at 3200, and would shoot even higher on a regular basis if the quality was there. Money is tight, however, so I'm torn on whether to shell out the bucks and potentially open up new realms to explore, or stay with what I have. Any educated opinions out there?
Thanks,
Adam

The 5D Mark II is the hottest thing going right now. One recent reviewer claimed that the 5D Mark II performed as well at ISO 6400 as the 40D does at ISO 1600!

Hey had this dilemma about three weeks ago. The guys on here were very helpful. I went with the D700 and love it. Had a photoshoot last night and it went spectacularly well, the shots look amazing.

I've had a play with the new Canon 5DmkII about 7 weeks ago now, its an awesome camera, and will be good.

I went with the D700 cos i couldn't wait months to get the 5D.
