View Full Version : RED ONE! How Hot?

I have one question. No one has brought up yet on this forum.
Mysterium chip is single layer's Bayer pattern chip that outside RED ONE is I remember that Canadian Company Dalasa Origin’s uses its same kind Bayer pattern chips.
I know that KG is working together with RED team and my question is HEATING solution:

I do not know how much electricity use for receiving analog light source to A/D convert to 12bit Bayer pattern to algorithmic sampling rate that will produce significant heat normally and I will calculate how much energy use for this transition process.
RED ONE does not have internal fan and body's aluminum alloy only use natural air flow to cool it down, it almost like air cooled motorcycle engine.

My biggest concern is: when I shoot 4k RAW for long take and hot environments.

I know all other 4k cameras have cooling system integrated in it.

Anyone will answer for me?

Thanks.

Jarred Land,
Good to know, I guess that will be very quiet one.
COOL!
thanks quick reply.

yes.. the fans turn off when shooting, and are variable speed so they only work when they need to be.

Jarred, do those fans suck air out or shoot air in?

They go from suck to blow.

Are they prelubricated or do we have to send them in to be lubed periodically ?

I wouldn't want any accidents.

chosei,

I presume by KG you're talking Schneider (http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/index_e.htm)

What Schneider components are you referrring to?

David,

I was presuming that Keisoku Giken (KG) provide 12bit field-programmable gate array that very common solution for the faster current IC world which promises High definition’s better performance and now it’s available and very affordable. FPGA be able to pre-program whatever RED’s Bayer pattern’s algorithm.

When I check Schneider’s website,
I find some interesting Software, which call "Calculation program for optical imaging formation". I thought Brit’s Cooke designs Red’s lenses.

thanks........
I saw you post on 'kit we use' mentioning their u/c recorder and it clicked. Thought you might have been talking about schneider IR filters or something else!

I believe the fans in, for example, Digibeta tape recorders have a life span of 11 years continuos operation. That is without any lubejob.

Hi,

I wish Sony would have used one of those fans in my Vaio laptop.
