I was talking to a buddy of mine and we were talking about some of RED's history and this came up and neither of us could remember reading about any outcome to the story.

Directly from Wikipedia:

September 2006 theft

On September 24, 2006, the Red offices in Lake Forest, California were broken into. No sensors or sensor information were stolen.[12] Some of the stolen items, including a prototype camera shell, have since been recovered, and some items such as computers containing in-detail information on the Red One have not been recovered. Red has not revealed the circumstances of the recovery, due to the existence of an ongoing investigation.[13] Red has offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the apprehension of those responsible.[14]

I can guess who probably took it and I can tell you that it likely wasn't Sony.

sing it with me:

Industrial espionage,
Industrial espionage,
It's like spying but a bit more boring,
Like copying someone else's homework but a bit more jarring,
Like stealing your girlfriend but just to ask her how it's going.
Espionage,
Industrial espionage.

There are several likely suspects as there have been a few RAW cameras appearing from the most unlikely sources outside of the US and Japan since the stuff was stolen though most of them are still in the development stages or only have a few functional working models for testing.

It's pretty easy to catch people when they try to sell the items on eBay. Not rocket scientists involved here. It's all old news.
