Maybe a question for Jim if hes around. Im assuming Jim owns the company lock stock and barrel. Has he got any plans to list RED in the future like he has with his shades?
Who'd be in?

Not for a long time... too much drama being public. We have enough on our hands as it is. :-)

The RED camera does not replace film. It is an alternative. In time, we will solve the puzzle to match or beat every aspect of film. As of today, we cannot. We just offer an alternative that is compelling. Less expensive, easier workflow and an image that many find as "filmic" as film... even though it is different.

Let's not be greedy... I think privately held companies can and do better since it is their livelyhood and they want to stay in business.
They will make sure to make great products for us and stay in business. Besides, what's cooler than writing off the making of the ultimate camera... well maybe shooting the most beautiful beaches... (Jim if you want to join me, let me know. However, you bring the transportation... planes, boats, vehicals. :-) ) and I'll bring your camera.

Which beaches Poi Boy? I'm planning on shooting hawaii as soon as I get RED between Sept - Nov... and take a full month shooting all the islands. Last time I did that it was 20 days back in 1999 with a sony VX-1000. Also, maybe you might need a 2nd RED camera on the island. I'm considering leaving California for the island life.

Kailua beack and Lanikai beach often make the top ten list. Both are on the winward side of Oahu. Not a much work here but life is good.

Oakley is listed, you would have done well to buy shares a week before NAB 2006.
Needless to say that I doubt RED would have got off the ground without the man who owns the company backing his passion.
Also the camera were it being developed under other circumstances, would probably be already shipping (despite being not quite 100%) to keep the accountants satisfied, all that ready cashflow waiting in the wings takes some self control not to plunder!
Full marks all round, in particular the biz brains to recognise that the Japanese tendancy to have ten year business plans for product/formats has had its day.
