who would it be interested to buy rehoused good glass?..

note
a small point on your part there.. at cine circus.. your in your own.. but you have several places to your disposal.. there you must have one or multiple choices.. you can choose among ringmaster, lion tamer, acrobat (trapeze or cradle), fire eater, clown and on and on.. or not even one..

At the price Red is charging for their cine lenses, I can't really see anyone beating them on cost with rehoused still lenses.

If you need a lens that isn't going to be covered by Red and can't accept the trade offs that come with using a Nikkor or Canon lens in its original housing, then I suppose that it would be worth it to some.

Me, I'm going to try and get by for the first while with the Birger EOS adapter and my Canon L lenses in their original housing -the image stabilization remains and I can still use them with my DSLR.

century ( now Schneider optic's) does some rehousing ...

they are rehousing the canon 17-35mm and selling it at 15K ..

http://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?CID=1102&IID=1218

here's a list of other conversions they do

my guess would be that if you were to ask them about buying/rehousing 100 lenses the price would drop allot .. 500 lenses !! a great discount ??

Check out the digital35 primes from P&S at around $2,200 each that will be hard to beat, they are rehoused Nikon ZF lenses.

Filmmaker's gang i think there are a few reasons why you could be too early for your poll.

1. Until the first dozen or so red ones are out there and we can get various lenses tested we will not know how the various lenses will shape up?

2. Just how difficult will the still lense focusing issues be compared to proper PL mount cine lenses.

3. The birger solution with the canon EOS mount looks promising combined with the red super grip. We have to wait and see how that goes and testing in the field using this setup.

At the momment i am with Clint on this and i dont own any lenses yet.
