At NAB I think I was in a conversation with Brook and he was mentioning a product he uses to clean the gate...Brook do I have that right? What was that product? IIRC it attracts dust to it via an electrical charge (?) and after you take it out it spins the dust off? Do I have that right? Definitely a product we'll need if we'll be swapping lenses.

Heheh, I clean the gate with an orange wood stick.

As for cleaning a sensor? I don't remember saying anything too specific about it... because I don't really know. Are you sure I said it? That little tool you described sounds cool... but I've never heard of it. I'd love to hear about it.

Hi Getken

I am sure the product Brook showed you would be the Sensor Brush by Visible Dust (http://www.visibledust.com). They do a number of versions of this, the most effective is the cheapest which isn't the spinning version. Instead you impart a static charge by blowing canned air over the brush. The spinning version is recommended if you are travelling by plane where the flight restrictions don't allow you to bring cans of air with you. Although they do different sized brushes for different sized sensors (the idea being that you can clean in one sweep) I have found the 8mm sensor brush works very well with a couple of passes, I use 2 of these one for the chamber and one kept just for the sensor.

Thanks Martin, that is definitely the product. I guess it wasn't Brook who told me. Maybe it was Jarred or Evin. Hard to tell, they were all wearing the same shirt!! Whoever it was called it the Arctic Butterfly and that product is made by Visible Dust. It's pretty cool and there is a demo video on the site. A little pricey but looks well worth it. Thanks again for finding it for me.

ROFL! Do you identify people by their shirts? This is hilarious! :)

Anyhow, I'd also be interested in the best and safest way to clean the sensor.

The first time we all got together at the booth we realized that a good portion of the NAB RED team was over 6', skinny and dead sexy. So yeah, I can understand mixing us up. ;)

Who was dead and who was sexy?
