Whats the policy on Cancelations (I think there will be a few), say if the guy with #123 cancels. Are you going to move everyone up a spot, does that number simply no longer exist or do you accocate that spot to a new order???

If it's the later, how can we get on THAT list if we want to order another body?

Everyone should go one spot higher, I guess.

They have stated several times that canceled SN#s go into a "pool".

My guess is for service/hire and previews for potential (larger) customers

Cheers!

Cancelations mean Mr. Jim Jannard will own his REDs more for the REDCORE members to rent or loan from his personal inventory for REAL HARDCORE RED projects. ( Just my Dream and IT IS NOT a REAL until he approves it )

If anyone is thinking to cancel their reservation, please talk to me.

Eastco, reservations are not transferrable. I know what you're probably thinking... but don't do it. :)

As for cancellations, the last thing that the RED guys said about it [and this was a while ago...] was that a cancellation would still be built, but it would be put into a "pool" of service cameras. So if #123 did cancel, #124 would still get camera #124. That #123 camera would just stay in the warehouse for tech support or other purposes.

They didn't say that this was absolutely the way it was going to be... nothing's ever locked down... and things may have changed by now. So don't necessarily take this as a fact, it's just the way it was the last time they spoke on the subject.

Why are the reservations non-transferrable? This doesn't seem fair (IMHO).

If a reservation holder put in $1,000 and earned certain privileges because he trusted the RED company, he should be allowed to do anything he likes with those privileges. It's his right, he earned them, after all. It is HIS number in line. If he wants to sell a reservation place with $10,000 (let's say) and succeeds, good for him. This is America, right?

BUT, it was a condition of being a reservation holder that you cannot transfer it. So everyone bought it with that forknowledge.

eastco,

There are lots of reasons that reservations should not be transferable... One is just for the reason you mentioned. What keeps someone from speculating on RED, plugging up 5 places in line (more if he reserves under multiple names) and then auctions those reservations off. I'm all for free enterprise, but there's a point where business and sleaze can overlap. It's like scalping tickets to a major sports event -- illegal in many places.

If someone seriously wants to sell their reservation, that can't be done directly. However, that doesn't mean that someone can't buy a RED camera from a reservation holder on the day it's delivered... There are legitimate ways to handle such a situation. The non-transferrable reservations simplifies a lot of things on RED's end, I'm sure. And combined with the 110% or better refund policy for the original group of reservation holders, I'd say it's a pretty fair way to handle things.

My big question is what of the Titanium "R"s that get returned? Any chance that some of those will be recycled to reservation holders with higher numbers? I'd like to have one, just because they're cool.

FACT - reservations are non transferrable ...

the $1000 got YOU a reservation - not a camera ..

i sure there will be some "unheard " selling/buying ...
IE: if Jon Doe that has reservation XX wants to sell it to Steve doe - they make a deal .. Steve gives Jon the $$ to buy the camera .. then another 5k above the price once it is delivered ..

BUT what if Jon Doe gets a 10k offer the day he picks up the camera from Suzzie doe ? he then returns the $$ to Steve? ... and sells the camera to Suzzie ... ???????????

heck, lets face it Jon doe could pre-sell the camera several times ( take several deposits ) ..and walk away with some big $$$$$$$$$$$$ and the camera !!!! - good luck finding Jon doe !!!

Are people actually supposed to send the "R"s back if they cancel or you were just speculating?

The idea is that you send them back.

I told my wife I had received one - happy camper. When she came back home, she said:

What is that tool on the cupboard?
Could you please put it somewhere tidy?

Still is there, though.

Wonder if there's some secret use for it when the camera arrives though. Maybe it's the Red Swiss Knife. You need it to change your lense mount. Maybe it is a hardware dongle to make the focus-assist work properly. -;)

One thing that has never been discussed here, to my knowledge, is whether the warranty will be transferable. Sure, you could pick up a camera by offering a res holder an obscene amount of money, but you might want to make sure you'll be eligible for repairs, updates, etc.

AFAIK, you have to send your R back or pay $500.

Jeff Kilgroe

Yeah, must send the R back to get your deposit refunded. Hence why the original group of reservation holders had a contract to sign and return.

I think Jim Jannard has been more than fair with his method of reservations. In fact i would say he has looked after us and thanked us in his own way.

Another point is that original reservation holders will get....wait for it

"FREE SOFTWARE UPGRADES" for the life of the camera.
