I was listening to the latest Redcenter. They were talking about how sometimes its preferable to have a deliverable codec come right out of the camera, without worrying about Raw files (though they are great).

Sometimes you have to shoot and deliver quickly.

Imagine a module, that would plug into the data output port, and apply a user generated LUT to the RAW data and write it to CF, or Drive, or whatever, in one of several codecs.

That way a scarlet/epic can quickly turn out h264, DPX, prores, etc, and the camera can work in a new market.

BTW I probably wouldnt GET this module, because I think most of my clients want RAW, and I'm comfortable with the RAW workflow for my own projects.

However it would be a cool way to deliver dailies, if you could co-record the RAW to another spot.

you could use the aja io box and the hd/sdi output but then your tethered to the camera

see, tethered sucks, and is usually a deal breaker. Most DPs i work with, myself included, like the Red partly because you can roll like a film camera untethered, SDI monitor not withstanding
