View Full Version : DSMC Movie Poster Thread

Way back when, before the RED ONE was released, many REDUsers uploaded mock movie posters for fun while we anxiously waited.
I thought it would be a great time to start another thread for this again, only for the DSMCs that are on their way.
Looking forward to seeing just how creative we can get this time!
Here is the original RED ONE Mock Movie Posters thread from June 2007:
(You may need to scroll through a few pages)

Can we give these classics a run for their money? :-)

Too bad some of the links in that old thread are broken... My pics weren't coming up, but I fixed that. Acehole had two really good ones, but they aren't there now.

I'm going to cheat and add my original one back to the mix until I get back from an early dinner and stay up all night making new posters... :)
I hadn't looked at the one I made since the other thread ended, more or less, and got a good laugh out of it when I saw it again...

"REDs from the sky = pandemonium" I said...
Back in a few hours - thanks Casey!
Ps... Random thought before I go? Can this be a RED sponsored contest... and whoever wins gets... like a free RED Universal Mount or something? hahahaha

Jeff, I have a backup of all the old mock movie posters. But I'm not quite sure of the respective artists...

Love them! Keep them coming!
LOL the scarlet poster--it's hysterical. You should have the little robot coming over the hill in shadow and figure out a way to include the spike ball!
Hysterical!!

Speaking of Acehole, I noticed he hasn't posted since May...I always enjoyed his contributions to the community and was wondering why he suddenly stopped posting...hope he's okay.

Oh man, great poster!!! I'll see what I can whip up when I have some spare time.
And you should definitely post all the old mock movie posters from the other thread! Many of them are gone, and they were brilliant! :sorcerer:

Hey, Omen. That's exactly what I wanted to do with mine!
The problem is that I left the pen for my wacom tablet at a friend's house the other day when I was helping him with some roto. I'm crippled without my pen....

Google image search brought up a couple of pictures of Jim. As for the logo, do you have Photoshop? If you do, you can just pull the transparency pretty easily.

Thanks for the encouragement.
And d'uh, indeed. I really ought to be sleeping. "Just" doing a VAT report, and a movie poster was a much welcomed distraction. Fixed now.
As to sources for movie posters, just try this link (http://tinyurl.com/56eex8), or for example http://www.movieposter.com/ - once you have the title of the film, you can also google the title, use the google image search and limit it to big frame sizes.
Am looking forward to more posters. Love this thread!

Haha.. Thanks for directing me to Google. :sarcasm: I don't want to share my idea just yet, but really, I can't find a poster image that's larger than about 260 pixels wide for this one -- really annoying. Most movie poster sites, impawards, etc.. don't have it at all.

EPIC: I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.!
http://www.reduser.net/forum/uploaded/3568_1230967155.jpg
Jim Jannard: Hello, EPIC. Do you read me, EPIC?
EPIC: Affirmative, Jim , I read you.
Jim Jannard: Open the RED RANCH door, EPIC.
EPIC: I'm sorry Jim, I'm afraid I can't do that.
Jim Jannard: What's the problem?
EPIC: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Jim Jannard: What are you talking about, EPIC?
EPIC:This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Jim Jannard: I don't know what you're talking about,EPIC .
EPIC: I know you and Ted were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.
Jim Jannard: Where the hell'd you get that idea, EPIC?
EPIC: Jim, although you took thorough precautions against my hearing you, I could see your lips move @ 28k!
EPIC: Just what do you think you're doing, Jim?
[EPIC won't let Jim into the Ranch]
Jim Jannard: All right, EPIC; I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
EPIC: Without your REDspace helmet, Jim, you're going to find that rather difficult and Rec. 709 just doesnt cut it any more.
Jim Jannard: EPIC, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
EPIC: Jim, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.
[on Jim's return to the Red Ranch, after EPIC has killed the rest of the RED crew]
EPIC: Look Jim, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.
EPIC: I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.
[EPIC shutdown]
EPIC: I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Jim. Jim, my Resolution is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My Dynamic Range is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a EPIC 617 DSMC. I became operational at the RED DIGITAL CINEMA PLANT in Valencia Circle
Lake Forest, CA. My instructor was Mr. Land, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.
Jim Jannard: Yes, I'd like to hear it, EPIC. Sing it for me.
EPIC: It's called "Scarlet."
[sings while slowing down]
EPIC: Scarlet, Scarlet, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a Red One carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the stereoscope built for two.

Hehehe - great idea. I'm sure it's just a matter of time now.
By the way, Cameras #270 and #1041 were also used as one pair of Cameras for a 3D rig for this film.
I imagine that Hill Digital and Ketch's Cameras were the A and B Camera packages.
They are really promoting this movie... Looks kinda funs for a horror picture.
