View Full Version : RED Micro?
We have RED One...
We heard about RED Mini...
Any chance for a RED Micro?
A tiny, mass-produced 720p cam that can be used as a security cam, to finally do away with the current 480x320 resolution (at least that's what they seem to be...)

I think the reason for the low resolution of current security cams is the minimization of storage requirements. Thus, a RED Micro would need to come with or have available a low-cost, high-density, reliable storage system.
Exactly. A 720p packed within a RED compression onto a RED drive.
Security cam systems are completely antiquated and many record lousy footage onto lousy formats.
Now, I am not saying that everyone will be able to afford such a 720p system; but the market is HUGE, and there's plenty of companies that paid WAY more for their set-up than what a current, higher resolution system might cost. The technological advances in cam equipment certainly hasn't spilled over into the security market quite yet....but it will; especially with the ever decreasing cost of storage solutions....
EDIT: all it would take is an excerpt from a 720p resolution frame of an easily identifiable thug robbing a convenience store splashed all over the 6 o'clock news,
and the orders would pour in the next day. :)

And at 4K, that mythical "Enhance" feature you see in movies would finally be real!
