I just got my Red Nikon and I'm considering getting the electronic version. But I'm a little concerned about the ease of being able to find the exact aperture every single time. I saw the video, but I'd like to get some real world feedback.

How's it been going?

Jason, could you let me know a bit more about the Nikon electronic mount?

First time I heard that RED has one.

Are maybe referring to the Doug Underdahl mechanical mount that lets you set the aperture on Nikon lenses?

Doug has one that will work with the electronic lenses that doesn't have the aperture ring. But the way it works is that it has a "dial" that controls the aperture. There is no way of telling what aperture number you're on. Doug shows a method in which you mark it on a piece of tape by your lcd, but I'm not sure about it. Just wanted some owner feedback. I'm considering getting the Tamron lens or having access to the 24-70, 70-200 Nikkor lenses could be nice (makes me wince to say that because I have the canon L equivalents just sitting there).

anyway, i'm having fun with my 50 1.4 so far. finally learning stuff.

i heard there some progress on the birger front.

but with the recent announcement that Red will be making mounts, i guess i'll comfort myself knowing it's still 6 months to a year away so i'll get the mounts anyway.

Yeah, I got that one, but no lenses that need it :)

i heard there some progress on the birger front. Yeah, the unexpected news is that thereīll be some further delays. Delivery will be... well, ..., next Monday. Donīt count on it.
