Any reason why I could not use existing 14.8volt batteries like PAG L95 and 75s? Can I change the mount for the batts?

75 and 95Wh might not be enough for everything when attached and if it is certainly won't last a very long time. I recall reading the 140Wh only give just over an hours operation time. Of course it depends on the setup and extras. However this is not gospel and until the cameras are out in the field many specific questions such as this simply cannot be answered.

Is there any way to power the camera with a block battery?

Not a big deal I suppose but nice to use as much existing kit as possible. I would imagine Flash storage is going to use less juice than those hefty looking hard drives?

The biggest power draw is the camera body itself - the signal processing is fast and complex. Adding accessories such as RED-EVF, storage and lens motors will just add to that. So the battery system needs to have sufficient overhead to permit variations in power draw without shutting down.

This is why we reccommend the use of the RED-BRICK 140Wh batteries. Feel free to use outher V mount batteries, but the only ones we have used as an alternative are the IDX series, which are considerably more expensive.

Interesting - we're going to have to move back to those cool looking battery belts like in the 80s :sarcasm:

You can power F900 and Varicams with big lead acid, NMH, or NiCaD bricks. They are heavy, but if you just leave them on the dolly its no big deal. Any chance of an adapter for 4 pin XLR?

Also, I'm curious, would anything bad happen to a RED drive if the camera lost power while rolling from a battery going down? I know it can't be good for Hard drives to lose power while writing data.
