AE is missing R3D ISO adjustment!?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I still didn't find something to adjust R3D ISO in AE CS4 9.0.1 that is a bit similar like in R3D Room of Apple's Color, REDAlert, REDCINE and SCRATCH?

I think once in AfterEffects with your raw footage imported as native you don't need such settings.

With 32 bit color mode and having full raw image access you can use any of AE's or 3rd party plug-ins to set your exposure/contrast/cc/secondaries or whatever you want with such deep possibilities that I see now point having any access to metadata's ISO and other settings beforehand in a separate panel. That would make no sense.

What would be cool tho is an AE script/plug-in that could read the rsx file associated with the r3d file and apply effects with correct values for curves, level and/or saturation etc to mimic the prelight done is red alert or in-camera using metadatas (ISO...)

for me (and I'm sure many many others) having r3d native in AE is just like heaven

Mikael,

I wouldn't say that.

Also I imported QT wrappers in 4K even before R3D plug-in upgrade and worked in AE 32 bit color.

Have you ever evaluate SCRATCH?

Try out?

Then you could see that ISO adjustment is must have here in AE environment.

Who knows, maybe is coming up later because this upgrade is still a beta.

For grading only the plain RAW data is needed. Red's metadata is meant for those people who are used to a WSIWYG workflow. With that it is more or less possible to mentain a look from the set to the post. You don't need that for quality reasons. On the contrary. Often when people dial in 320 ASA one has to bring back lost information in the whites by setting approx. 200 - 250 ASA within RedAlert/RedCine.

This problem does not occur when working off the pure RAW data.

trying to convert our workflow from Avid/FCP>Monkey>Automatic Duck>After Effects, I found it funny when a search in this forum gave no hits for "RSX."

will this 32-bit editing of the native files in AE provide similar results as using RedAlert and the RSX files? is there a comparable or better amount of linear adjustments in the images? non-destructive (to an extent)?

is this 32-bit and native editing in AE CS4 elimination the need for RSX files in post?

i understand that it's possible and see how this can be true, but i need some confirmation. heaven, indeed, mikael.
cheers.
